The hair diaries: Why I went for the chop

As you know, my hair can be a bit of a struggle. Actually, it can be a NIGHTMARE. So, I've decided to do something pretty drastic...

...I'VE CHOPPED OFF ALL OF MY HAIR!!! I had wanted to do it for a long time, but I never had the courage until, well, two days ago.

I can't tell you how pleased I am. My hair has never felt so bouncy and full of life! When I stepped out of the salon, I felt like I was in a L'Oréal advert, because I'm worth it, of course 😉. So after eyeing up "long curly bob hairstyles" on Google I thought, sod it, I'm doing it! And I have!

I had about 5 inches taken off, and some long layers put through to give my hair some shape and bring out my curls. I'll admit, when Arnold was cutting my hair (and I saw how much of it was on the floor) I was very nervous that I wouldn't like the outcome, or that it wouldn't suit me. But when I saw the finished result, all I could think of was that I wished I had done it sooner! Curly hair is very hard to keep tangle and frizz-free when it is long. For some reason people seem to assume that curly hair is easier to manage. NOT TRUE AT ALL!

I remember having a conversation with my mum when I was deciding whether to go for the chop or not, and she was actually the one that convinced me to do it! She used to be a hairdresser herself, many moons ago, so I valued her opinion more than anyone's. Her advice? If you have curly hair and you're going out of your mind to try and maintain it, then consider cutting it shorter. You'll soon find that your curls are more defined, your hair is less frizzy (which is a God send for me) and it won't get tangled as easily.

This was a huge change for me as I'm not really much of a risk taker.
But I thought, "Heleayner, you're young, you only live once babes, cut your hair, it grows". In the words of Coco Chanel "A woman who cuts her hair is about to change her life" - Coco spoke, and I certainly listened.

Now, I know that cutting your hair can be very personal for some women. Whether you have just been through a break-up, got that promotion you have been dreaming of at work, or simply fancied a change, like I did! And I have to say, I feel much more sophisticated, sexier, and a hell of a lot sassier!

I have also begun to switch up my style a bit. What's a girl to do? When cut your hair you gotta change your wardrobe. Every woman knows this. So, I've been wearing slightly more plunging necklines that show off my collar bones a little more (cheeky). I've also tweaked my makeup routine, wearing bolder lipstick shades to bring out my features.

Looking back, I suppose cutting my hair was a way of me letting go of certain things that had bothered me in the past. In recent months, I have learnt to be more accepting and open to new things. In a way I literally cut off the old to start the new.

So here's to the new Heleayner🥂. She's fearless, ambitious, and is ready to take on the world (once she has got her degree).

Well that all got a bit deep didn't it?!

I promise my next post won't be as emotional...perhaps I'll do a post about about my Spring makeup routine?

My magical trip to the Scottish Highlands - Part 2

If you read my previous post, you'll know that I have recently returned from a week away in the beautiful Scottish Highlands with my family. The first part of our trip was spent recovering from the awful ten and a half hour journey (we should've flown), so we didn't really get up to much for the first couple of days.

On the Tuesday (when my sister eventually woke up) we decided to go for a walk in the Skelbo forest, situated just North of the seaside town of Dornoch. If I'm honest, I think we all needed this walk after the amount of shortbread we had consumed over the last 2 days - I was surprised that my jeans still fit! They didn't even feel tight! Maybe shortbread is the new superfood? No? Ok I'll keep dreaming.

Is it a bird?! Is it a plane?! No its just me being vain and taking a photo of my shadow

The trail was about an hour's walk, and I was hoping that I would channel my inner Sir David Attenborough, finding rare wildlife hidden deep within the forest. I can just picture the headlines now, "21-year old student Heleayner Davies spots the first Scottish wildcat to be seen in the Northern Highland forest of Skelbow in over 20 years" - the boys would never have left me alone! But as you have probably guessed, this headline did not become a reality, as I didn't spot A THING! NOTHING! Not even a red squirrel or Capercaillie bird, which are apparently said to be a popular sighting In The Highlands 🤔.

Not to say that the forest wasn't beautiful, of course it was, the views we saw were spectacular. BUT I would have liked to have seen some wildlife. Put it this way, I've seen more wildlife in Southampton Common than I did in Skelbo forest (the amount of times blogger has corrected me to elbow instead of Skelbo is countless 🙄).

Stunning views from the top of the forest
Now, obviously the views at Southampton Common aren't comparable with what Skelbo forest has to offer (Sorry Southampton, Ocean village is a beauty though). So, its ok Skelbo, I forgive you. We just caught you on a grumpy day 😒.

Here I am pictured staring at my new home, praying that my sister doesn't push me in the pond
The day wasn't over just yet! Next stop? The Magnificent Dunrobin Castle, which by the way, is supposedly haunted. Legend has it that Lady Margaret, who was the daughter of the 14th Earl of Sutherland, haunts the bottom of the castle. The story goes that Margaret fell in love with someone who her father did not think was suitable. So, to prevent her from marrying him, he locked her in THE ATTIC! What a grumpy git! I won't tell you the rest of the story, but she fell to her death in the end. How tragic. It's like Romeo and Juliette without the guns and violence.

The castle was built in the style of a French Chateau in the 13th century, and is surrounded by alluring gardens, with colourful bedding displays, pools, and water features. Sadly, on this particular day, the castle itself was not open to members of the public, so we were not able to step inside and have a cuppa with Lady Margaret. I wonder how she took her tea, probably without sugar (she was watching her waistline).

Not a bad view eh, Charles?

The gardens were inspired by The Palace of Versailles, and were laid out in 1850 by architect Sir Charles Barry. As I walked along the pathway, I felt as if I were in the gardens of Wonderland - Alice in Wonderland! I half expected to see my Scottish Prince Charming pop out from behind the fencing, and rescue me from the mountain of Uni work that I had to complete, but he didn't. Instead, I am sat here, about to write another 200 words of my dissertation proposal once I have finished this blog post. Priorities eh? 😜

The following morning (also our final day of exploring) my parents asked us where we would like to go. Any guesses? It's very big, involves A LOT of freshwater, and is home to a rather "friendly?" aquatic being who goes by the name Nessie. Yep, you guessed right, we went to Loch Ness! Of course, there was NO WAY that I was leaving Scotland without being given the chance of spotting the mysterious beast. So, I grabbed my camera, and off we went...you already know what's coming, don't you?

Loch Ness

Did I see him/her?! (I don't think they have done the gender reveal yet) NOPE!! I was so disappointed. My hope of making it into "The Inverness Courier" was demolished (yeah, I know, give up your dream of becoming the new David Attenborough Heleayner...you're studying beauty for a start babes). There have apparently been many "sightings" of the beast, however I'm not sure if I believe it, myself. Surely it can't still be alive? Unless its immortal, (the lucky sod).

Anyway, that's enough of me waffling. Seeing as I didn't really do anything exciting enough to write about on the last couple of nights, well, other than play Monopoly and eat chocolate. (I promise we are a healthy family; if you can't eat a tonne of crap when you're on holiday, then when can you?!).

I hope that I have inspired you to visit The Highlands sometime soon! I would definitely add it to your bucket list of places to go. It is the most beautiful and peaceful place that I have been to in a long time, and It was a much-needed break away from stressful Uni deadlines. I can't wait to go back someday! The people are lovely, the views are stunning, and the food is delicious.

I think my parents are already planning their next visit! Finger crossed they fly next time...

My magical trip to the Scottish Highlands - Part 1

So last week I turned 21. However, I still feel like 15-year old lanky Heleayner with braces. Anyway, I'm waffling...

A few days ago my family and I returned from a beautiful week away in the Scottish Highlands, and it was the most peaceful and relaxing place that I have ever been to...despite the 10 AND A HALF HOUR CAR JOURNEY! "Why didn't you fly?" I hear you say... I asked my parents that question only an hour after we had set off. THANK GOD for service stations...that's all I'm saying.

I did all the touristy things that you're meant to do when you visit Scotland. I visited Loch Ness (although I didn't catch a glimpse of Nessie...maybe that was a good thing?), drank whiskey, visited museums, and ate copious amounts of shortbread.

Mum pretending to be a professional photographer with her new camera

We stayed in the lovely and quintessential Capercaille Cottage, situated in the Sutherland hills of the Northern Highlands. This charming cottage was fully equipped with everything we could have possibly wanted for a cosy holiday; including a roaring fire, hot tub, and even a roll top bath in my en suite! I know I know, I'm jammy, but after all, it was the week of my 21st birthday. What's a beauty addict meant to do? How else was I meant to use my Shay and Blue bath oil? 🛁

*Crying while having flashbacks of myself laying in this bath with a glass of Pinot Noir"
We set off on Saturday the 24th of March at 2:30 in the morning. I hadn't gotten any sleep as I was up all-night chatting to my sister, so the panda eyes were in full force 🐼. We got to the cottage at about 4 in the afternoon that day, and one of the first that I said to my Dad not long after we had entered the cottage was "can you put the fire on?!". Seeing as he had just driven over 600 miles to get to the other side of England, he wasn't best pleased. Even so, 10 minutes later the fire was roaring 🔥. Looks like I wasn't the only one freezing my tush off.

Seeing as we had the entire week to explore the wonders of The Highlands, the first couple of days were spent chilling out by the fire, eating shortbread, and listening to my Mum say "Isn't it beautiful Carl?" about 100 times. Lorraine was very excited, bless her.

My birthday was on Monday 26th March (the same day as Keira Knightley's 😜) so, with the very small chance that you happen to read this blog post Keira, I hope you had a spectacular birthday!

After a scrumptious champagne breakfast, my parents presented me with a big box wrapped in paper that looked like it had been bought from Liberty London. I doubt that it was, considering the cost of my present. I'm surprised they could even afford wrapping paper! As I unwrapped the gift, which was seemingly very heavy, I realised this was not the Daniel Wellington watch that my Mum had been asking me about a few weeks prior; it was *drum roll please*... A MACBOOK...A ROSE GOLD ONE!

My MacBook in all it's glory ft. Adwoah Aboah channeling her inner Josephine Baker

I can't tell you how thrilled I was to receive it, I was so in shock that I think my Mum had the rescue remedy at the ready 😂. To tell you the truth, I think I even saw a tear in her eye! I'm not sure if that was because she was so overjoyed to give me a present that would make University work much easier (which it very much does), or the fact that she had just spent a substantial amount of money. I'm hoping it was the first reason.

I had wanted a MacBook for a long time, but I knew how expensive they were, so I plodded on with my Levano laptop, which was perfectly useable, however she got a bit slow in her old age.

In-fact, I am writing this blogpost on my MacBook right now! And I just want to say, one thing Apple don't tell you, is how bloody fabulous they are for short sighted people! My eyes are no longer strained; I don't even have to wear my glasses when using it! *ahem, bit of free marketing for Apple? Not that they need it*.

Anyway, back to the rest of my birthday...

This piece of haddock was bigger than my head! No, I did not eat it all, I had to save some room for birthday cake..

After I had recovered from the shock of the gift I had just been given, (it took a while) we decided to venture into the nearby city of Inverness. We spent the day exploring the local cafe's, Cathedral, shops, and we even saw some bagpipes! To finish off the birthday celebrations, we drove to a very quirky restaurant in the burgh of Tain, named Platform 1864. It was an old train station that had been converted into a restaurant, with the railway line still intact, and trains to Inverness running every 10 minutes! The restaurant served a typical Scottish menu of Haggis (yuck), steak, and fish. Being pescatarians, my Mum and I went with the haddock, and it was absolutely delicious. Thankfully, no one chose the haggis.

Once we had finished wining and dining at the restaurant, we drove back to the cottage,     and spent the rest of the evening sat in front of the blazing fire; drinking wine (Pinot Noir obvs) and chatting the night away...I might have even gotten a bit tipsy!

Anyway, so that this post doesn't end up being a 5,000 word essay (I write enough of those), I am splitting it into 2 parts. Actually, now that I'm reading back on it, I'm realising that half of it is me banging on about my birthday and how much I love my MacBook! I do apologise, I won't mention it again...promise😜

Right, I think it's about time I go! See you in "Part 2"! Where I'll be talking all things castles (a.k.a my future home), forest walks, and dated museums that are stuck in the 80s.

Review: Aldi's Jo Malone inspired fragrance collection

Aldi have launched three new copy-cat fragrances inspired by posh perfumer Jo Malone, just in time for Mother's Day. I have to admit, being the fragrance junkie that I am, when the perfumes were released I immediately hurried to my nearest Aldi and purchased one of each. The verdict? I love them.

The three luxury eau de toilette's include the beloved  Lime, Basil & Mandarin (my favourite), Freesia & Pear, and Pomegranate *ahem do I smell a Pomegranate Noir dupe?*.

Are they as good as the original?

Now I am a self-confessed fragrance obsessive, so I like to think that I have a fairly good "nose" when it comes to sniffing out the goodens'. So, I put all three to the test, and I was not disappointed...

Up first is No1 Lime, Basil & Mandarin,

I have to say I was more than pleasantly surprised with this one; I even got the nod of approval from my Mum! Who is a bit of a fragrance snob...(shhh don't tell her I said that).

Fresh, zingy, clean, and ever so Summer-like. This scent is strong, yet not overpowering. Lime is the first note that awakens the senses, then comes Basil adding an almost spicy element to the mix, whilst the feminine note of mandarin mellows it slightly, adding warmth and depth. It also lasts. After a few squirts in the morning, it had softened by the evening, but was still noticeable. Lime, Basil & Mandarin is for the girl looking to put a spring in her step, and it definitely put one in mine!

No3 Pomegranate,

Now there's a reason the shelves emptied quicker than the pastry isle on this one. Love Jo Malone's Pomegranate Noir? You'll *swoon* over this. Warm, spicy, heady, fruity; the list is endless. This scent is the most luxurious of them all. It lasted the ENTIRE day on me, and dare I say it, smells EXACTLY like it's luxurious rival. No3 Pomegranate is perfect for those sultry evenings, I'm thinking a hot date? 😉

Last but not least, No4 Freesia and Pear.

Perhaps the most feminine of the three, it's light, delicate and clean, with Freesia being the opening scent. Then comes juicy Pear, mellowing it slightly so it isn't overly floral. This one had the least amount of wear time, only lasting a few hours on me ( but when they're only £5.99 for 100ml, who am I to complain?). I predict that Freesia and Pear will be the crowd pleaser, suiting a range of preferences.

I adore Jo Malone, and If the price was right, I would purchase the original. But we all love a bargain, right? So trust me on this one, if you like the sound of these, RUN (and I mean run) to your local Aldi ASAP! Because once they're gone, they're gone.

Umm CHEERS ALDI, another one of your "special buys" that I won't be able to re-purchase 😢. Excuse me while I go stock up....

My three ingredient banana oatmeal cookies

I have been making these cookies for a while now, and I have to say they are absolutely delicious. They're super healthy, and super easy to make as they contain only 3 wholesome ingredients.

They can be eaten at any time of day, however I find they are perfect for when that mid - afternoon slump hits.

The beauty of these cookies is that you can add anything to them! Chocolate chips, nuts; berries you name it! Want to learn how to make them? Here's how...

Ingredients:

- 1 cup of oats
- 1 ripe banana
- 1 tablespoon of peanut butter

YES, that is all you need! Oh, and only 20 minutes to make them.

Instructions:

(Since I am the only person in my household that eats them *rolls eyes*, this recipe only serves 1-2 people. If you want to make them for your whole family, simple double the measurements given below).
- First mash one ripe banana in a large mixing bowl
- Then mix in one cup of quick oats
- Mix in your tablespoon of peanut butter (my favourite part), I prefer crunchy, but you can use whatever peanut butter you prefer. BUT always lick the spoon.
- Roll the dough into small balls and place on your baking sheet
- Bake for 10-15 minutes at 180-200'C
- Remove from oven and let cool for 10 minutes.

And that's it! Now all you have to do is try not to eat them all at once!

My Spring skincare routine - post winter beauty

It's not just our wardrobe that needs a spring clean...

SPRINNG! It's finally here! Sunnier days, floral dresses, and shoes that aren't boots! My beauty routine changes a lot when the sun comes out; I begin to wear less makeup and focus more on my skincare routine. So, I thought that I would roundup my spring skincare essentials, including some recent purchases that I am currently loving. Goodbye dry skin, hello JLO glow!

1. Switch to a lighter cleanser

During the harsh Winter months we crave rich, creamy, and balm textures. However, when Spring hits, I tend to opt for more of a foaming, hydrating cleanser, as my skin is less dry. I recently discovered B.Clean Creamy Foam Hydrating Cleanser (£6.99, available at Superdrug). It contains coconut oil, jojoba oil, and salicylic acid to deeply cleanse, purify and hydrate all skin types. It's also vegan and cruelty free!

2. Always wear SPF

As much as I am grateful that the Sun has finally come out of  its hiding place, I want to protect my skin as much as I can from its harmful UV rays (and wrinkles). While you should technically be wearing SPF all year round, even on cloudy, gloomy days, the Sun's rays are much stronger when Spring hits. So, I make sure that I wear SPF every single day, even in the Winter (bit obsessed). My favourite is Clarins UV plus Anti-Pollution Day Screen Multi Protection, £32.50.

It is a very thin, watery texture, that is lightweight and oil-free, so it won't clog your pores. Did I mention that its SPF 50?! How amazing is that! Simply apply a thin layer after your regular daytime moisturiser, and that's it! You're protected for the entire day!

3. Consider a chemical exfoliant

Spring is the perfect time to step up your exfoliation game; preparing your skin for the warmer months ahead. Regular exfoliation reduces the build up of dead skin cells, ensuring that your skin remains looking fresh and radiant. I prefer to avoid grainy scrubs, as they can irritate my sensitive skin, so I use a chemical exfoliant twice a week. Chemical exfoliants are great because they aid in cell turnover, helping to brighten and smooth the skin! I use Alpha H Liquid Gold (available at cultbeauty, £33.50). This is an overnight treatment containing glycolic acid that is derived from sugar canes. I apply this to cleansed skin with a cotton pad twice a week, and every morning without fail, I wake up with wonderfully glowing skin. Just make sure to use an SPF of at least 15 when using a resurfacing acid.

 4. Lighten up

With the temperatures slowly rising (very slowly) our skin can become oilier due to the humidity and rain (ew) that Spring brings. So, it's time to throw out those rich and heavy creams that quenched our thirsty skin during Winter. If your skin is prone to oil, consider switching to a moisturiser that contains salicylic acid, to help keep spots at bay. However, just because the weather is warming up (we hope) hydration shouldn't have to take a backseat; look for lotions containing hyaluronic acid, an ingredient that deeply hydrates the layers beneath the skin, without flooding it with oil. These two ingredients combined will provide the perfect balance for any skin type. I find that The Body Shop Vitamin E Moisture Cream £13.00, works incredibly well for my skin during Spring, as it is a lightweight formula that is easily absorbed, containing plumping hyaluronic acid that will leave your skin fresh, glowing and ready for makeup.

Glow from within - my guide to eating your way to beautiful skin

The saying goes "You are what you eat". I am a firm believer in this philosophy, as the foods we consume make an incredible difference to our exterior and health. When it comes to the health of our skin, the foods that we choose to eat have more of an impact than we realise.

Now, I am not saying that you shouldn't have a slice of that gooey chocolate cake that Sophie brought into the office today. Or down those 3 jaeger bombs that Rob just bought you on a night out at Oceana (yes that did actually happen to me).

I'm just saying that if you want glowing skin, incorporate these items into your diet too! But if you're thinking about having a Jaeger bomb, DONT! Take it from someone who knows what the hangover feels like...

Aaanyway, let's take a look at my top 6 most loved foods for glowing skin. They're delicious, nutritious, and you might even be surprised by one or two...

1. Go nuts
Nuts are a great source of vitamin e, which is a powerful antioxidant that is essential for glowing skin. They are also full on magnesium and zinc, which have been proven to promote regeneration of skin cells, and even fight of bacteria that could lead to acne!!

2. When life gives you lemons, drink them!
Lemon water has so many beauty benefits, such as antioxidants and vitamin c, which boots your immune system as well as giving you fresh, glowing skin. Lemons are also very anti-inflammatory, helping eliminate toxins within your body, helping reduce blemishes, and even wrinkles!!

3. "Have chocolate, you'll look better"
Believe it or not, chocolate is good for you, BUT It has to be dark. This sweet treat is rich in flavonols and antioxidants that help your skin protect itself from UV damage! It also helps to hydrate the skin, and even increase blood flow (hello dewy glow)! However, when choosing dark chocolate, make sure that it contains at least 70% cocoa, so your skin can reap all of these amazing benefits. My personal favourite is "Lindt Excellence 70% dark chocolate".

4.'Oatillllly crazy
I am crazy for oats. I have them for breakfast every morning. Oats are a wholegrain that is loaded with important vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. In recent years, skincare brands have started to use oats in their products (*ahem* Aveeno) which have been known to improve uncomfortable symptoms of eczema, and other dry and itchy skin complaints.

Tip: Try combining oats with two tablespoons of Greek yogurt, and one tablespoon of honey for a soothing face mask.

5. Drink your greens
Drinking green tea improves your complexion by treating the epidermis layer of your skin, flushing out harmful toxins, helping to heal blemishes and scars, and reduce inflammation within the body. It has even been shown to improve skin elasticity. Because it is packed full of antioxidants, green tea helps to combat cancer, due to its effect in protecting the skin from ultra violet rays that result in melanoma, or even skin cancer (*goes to put the kettle on*).

Tip: If you suffer from puffy eyes, pop two used green tea bags into the fridge and leave them overnight. In the morning, pop them onto your eyes for 10 minutes. This will reduce swelling and tighten the skin around the eyes; the caffeine will help reduce puffiness by shrinking the blood vessels.

6. Do-u-av-o-ca-do
A diet high in avocado is amazing for your skin. They are loaded with monounsaturated fatty acids, which help keep the top layer of your skin moisturised so it's soft and glowing. They contain vitamin c and e, which help protect against the damage of free radicals. They also contain polyunsaturated fatty acids, that guard the skin from sun damage, and help with skin sensitivity. Let's not forget that avocados are bloody delicious, and in my opinion you can never have too many. Well, thats what I say.

So If you're feeling a bit blue about your complexion, I hope this post inspires you to "eat the rainbow" and consider making some changes within your diet. Remember, your skin is a reflection of your digestive system, so if you eat unhealthy foods that are laden with grease and preservatives, you'll notice that your skin will look dull, tired, oily, and spotty.

Now If you take away one tip from this post, drink the lemon water, trust me, hydration is the most important thing that you can do for your skin......and eat the chocolate - why don't you have a glass of wine while you're at it?! They do say it's all about balance...

The hair diaries: My top five tips for naturally wavy hair

Ever since I was a child, I have always been the girl with the wavy, bushy, and EXTREMELY frizzy hair (especially during Winter). Having wavy/curly hair can be so frustrating if you cannot get the definition and structure that you desire. It's all down to the right routine and the correct products for your hair type.

Wavy/curly hair can be one of the hardest hair types to manage. Myself, and most girls I've met with the same hair type as me, all agree that it can be a nightmare. BUT, fear not, I've got a few tips and tricks up my sleeve to help make sure that your tresses are tamed, and frizz-free all-day long.

1. Don't ever brush your hair, when dry.
This is a must for keeping your hair healthy, as brushing hair when dry can lead to breakage and split ends (eww). Plus, you'll find that if you brush wavy hair when it's dry, you know you'll end up with a frizzy mess. The best thing to do to keep your curls in check, is to comb through your hair with a wide tooth comb (or tangle teezer) while you condition in the shower.

2. Don't be afraid of product.
Wavy/curly hair is prone to being dry, so it's important to use products that help retain moisture within your hair. For best results, use products that are specifically made for curly hair, containing oils such a coconut or avocado oil. Also, consider investing in a good anti-frizz serum or shaping cream, pictured below is my current favourite, L'Oréal extraordinary oil. The texture of this is very lightweight and silky, and leaves my hair looking healthy, not greasy and eliminates frizz.

Pictured Left: L'Oréal Extraordinary Oil Nourishing Masque Balm
Right: L'Oréal Extraordinary Oil-In-Cream

Simply apply a small amount onto wet or dry hair and inhale the luxuriously floral fragrance. I also make sure that I use a nourishing mask once a week, to ensure that my curls stay in tip-top condition.

3. If you can, allow your hair to dry naturally.
Shiny, healthy and strong hair doesn't like heat. I always let my hair dry naturally, however I know that most people to not have the time to wait for it to dry, whilst they are getting ready to leave the house for work in the morning. So If you can't lose the hair dryer, use it on the coolest setting, and limit the amount of times you use it. My tip is to only blow dry your hair during the week; giving your locks a break at the weekend.

4. Don't wash your hair every day.
Washing your hair every day can strip the natural oils that your scalp produces to keep your hair healthy. The less you wash your hair, means the less you'll have to wash your hair. I would recommend washing your curly hair every 2-3 days, as curly hair tends to not look as greasy.

5. Get regular trims.
Curls are healthier and much more manageable when you keep them well shaped with trims. I would recommend seeing a stylist who is experienced with curly hair textures every 2 months. Consider asking for some long layers to bring out curl definition and add texture.

The hair diaries: Why I went for the chop

As you know, my hair can be a bit of a struggle. Actually, it can be a NIGHTMARE. So, I've decided to do something pretty drastic... ...
