Review: Aldi's Jo Malone inspired fragrance collection

Aldi have launched three new copy-cat fragrances inspired by posh perfumer Jo Malone, just in time for Mother's Day. I have to admit, being the fragrance junkie that I am, when the perfumes were released I immediately hurried to my nearest Aldi and purchased one of each. The verdict? I love them.  

The three luxury eau de toilette's include the beloved  Lime, Basil & Mandarin (my favourite), Freesia & Pear, and Pomegranate *ahem do I smell a Pomegranate Noir dupe?*.

Are they as good as the original?

Now I am a self-confessed fragrance obsessive, so I like to think that I have a fairly good "nose" when it comes to sniffing out the goodens'. So, I put all three to the test, and I was not disappointed...

Up first is No1 Lime, Basil & Mandarin,
I have to say I was more than pleasantly surprised with this one; I even got the nod of approval from my Mum! Who is a bit of a fragrance snob...(shhh don't tell her I said that).

Fresh, zingy, clean, and ever so Summer-like. This scent is strong, yet not overpowering. Lime is the first note that awakens the senses, then comes Basil adding an almost spicy element to the mix, whilst the feminine note of mandarin mellows it slightly, adding warmth and depth. It also lasts. After a few squirts in the morning, it had softened by the evening, but was still noticeable. Lime, Basil & Mandarin is for the girl looking to put a spring in her step, and it definitely put one in mine!


No3 Pomegranate, 
Now there's a reason the shelves emptied quicker than the pastry isle on this one. Love Jo Malone's Pomegranate Noir? You'll *swoon* over this. Warm, spicy, heady, fruity; the list is endless. This scent is the most luxurious of them all. It lasted the ENTIRE day on me, and dare I say it, smells EXACTLY like it's luxurious rival. No3 Pomegranate is perfect for those sultry evenings, I'm thinking a hot date? 😉

Last but not least, No4 Freesia and Pear.
Perhaps the most feminine of the three, it's light, delicate and clean, with Freesia being the opening scent. Then comes juicy Pear, mellowing it slightly so it isn't overly floral. This one had the least amount of wear time, only lasting a few hours on me ( but when they're only £5.99 for 100ml, who am I to complain?). I predict that Freesia and Pear will be the crowd pleaser, suiting a range of preferences.

I adore Jo Malone, and If the price was right, I would purchase the original. But we all love a bargain, right? So trust me on this one, if you like the sound of these, RUN (and I mean run) to your local Aldi ASAP! Because once they're gone, they're gone.

Umm CHEERS ALDI, another one of your "special buys" that I won't be able to re-purchase 😢. Excuse me while I go stock up....
